Transportation Available
Transportation to nutrition sites, medical needs, and shopping trips are available at the Senior Center. Transportation is available for those citizens 60 years and older. A donation of $1.50 is suggested for each unit of transportation. Transportation units are required to have a 24-hour notice. To schedule transportation, call (270) 298-4460.
Lunch at the Senior Centers
The lunch meal is served at 3 senior center locations in Ohio County at 11:30 a.m. as follows:
Ohio County Center - Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Fordsville Senior Center - Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Horse Branch Senior Center - Tuesday, Wednesday
Home-delivered meals are served each day to our frail elderly homebound. To apply to be on the Homebound Meals on Wheels, call (800) 928-9094 and ask for Amanda Smith.
Additional Activities
Each month, the Ohio County Senior Center offers special programming as well as regularly scheduled recreational activities including craft classes, exercise, bluegrass music bands, cards, bingo, bus trips, healthcare workshops, Medicare D training, health fairs, and billiards – all at no cost to our participants. Blood pressure checks are also available at our senior centers.
Additional recreational opportunities include cookouts, senior travel, and recreation programs for senior groups and organizations on a regional basis.
"Big Wheel Day" is an opportunity for the elected officials (The Big Wheels) to visit with the Senior Community and serve them their Thanksgiving meal.
AARP meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 12:00pm each meeting day.
